Offering great views of Yosemite Falls, depending on your room, the Yosemite Valley Lodge, formerly Yosemite Lodge at the Falls, has the distinction of being one of the most popular lodges in the park. While the Ahwahnee Hotel is more upscale and pricier, the relaxed Yosemite Valley Lodge exudes a cozy, rustic ski-lodge feel.
Nestled in the forest, it offers 241 recently remodeled rooms with different bed configurations, as well as four family-style rooms. Unlike traditional lodges, the rooms are spread throughout 15 separate buildings, all with different layouts.
The Mountain Room restaurant and lounge offers steaks, seafood and vegetarian dishes with dining options inside near the Swedish-style fireplace or outside on the patio with gorgeous views of the falls.
The closest hotel to Yosemite Falls, this easygoing favorite is a central hub for tours, activities and transportation. During the warm months, head to the lodge’s outdoor amphitheater in the evening to listen to ranger talks, sees slide shows or watch a nature film. Or jump in the lodge’s outdoor pool.
