True Getaway at Evergreen Lodge near Yosemite’s Hetch Hetchy

Looking to take a deep breath and disconnect?

Experience more than a walk in the park when you stay at Evergreen Lodge just outside Yosemite National Park. Established in 1921, Evergreen Lodge is just a mile from the entrance to Hetch Hetchy, the park’s least visited area but one of the most stunning. Spend the day exploring the area’s incredible waterfalls and granite domes, considered some of Yosemite’s best-kept secrets. In the evening, swim or soak in the lodge’s salt-water pool and hot tub. Then, enjoy the lodge’s incredible locally sourced food followed by s’mores around the campfire.

“Our approach to food is a genuine love and passion for cooking what’s available and being creative,” says Teri Marshall, the lodge’s marketing director, noting the chef is adept at adapting the menu for all patrons, including those who are vegetarian and gluten-free. “There will always be something on the menu you love.”

But one aspect of Evergreen you’ll truly enjoy is what’s absent: there are no TVs in the rooms. Instead, each room comes stocked with board games like Scrabble, Twister and Yahtzee. Wi-Fi is available in all cabins.

“We’re all about unplugging and reconnecting with what matters in life,” Marshall says.

Down the road on Hwy. 120 sits Evergreen’s sister lodge, Rush Creek Lodge, the area’s first new lodge in 25 years.
