Sledding and Tubing in Yosemite National Park
Yosemite’s Badger Pass Ski, Tube and Snowboard Area offers gentle, kid-friendly slopes for snow tubing along with its downhill and cross-country ski opportunities.
A free snow play area is located on the Big Oak Flat Road to the west of Yosemite Valley on Highway 120. Also stop by the Mountaineering Store in Yosemite Valley’s Curry Village and the Wawona Hotel for suggestions of sledding hills in these areas of the park.
Tenaya at Yosemite’s South Entrance
Just two miles south of the park at an elevation of 5,000-feet, Tenaya at Yosemite in Fish Camp has many winter activities including ice skating at the indoor rink, sledding and tubing down the sled run and guided and self-guided snowshoeing. Guests can also rent snowshoes and sledding discs at the lodge, and the gift shop has sledding discs for sale. There is no additional charge for using the sledding hills, a kiddie hill and a big hill.
Leland High Sierra Snow Play
West of Yosemite, Leland High Sierra Snow Play (snowplay.com) has the reputation of being the biggest & best snow play facility in the Sierra. At 6,300-feet, this beautiful natural setting is another world away. It is remarkably accessible though. Located in Tuolumne County, in the heart of Gold Country, Leland High Sierra is 39 miles east of Sonora on Highway 108.
