Update May, 2015 - Criminal charges were dropped against a hunter accused of starting California's Rim Fire after two key witnesses unexpectedly died.
Fire officials are now using a drone to help fight the Rim Fire near Yosemite National Park.
Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park (which was just reopened after being battered by the Colorado flood), and so many more, would all be closed, indefinitely, if the government shuts down.
Yosemite is open again after being a 16-day-long government shutdown. All roads, major highways, campgrounds and visitor centers opened Wed., Oct 16, 2013.
