Midpines-El Portal, CA 140 Gateway to Yosemite

Located on CA 140, the community of Midpines is 20 miles from Yosemite’s Arch Rock Entrance. There are several bed-and-breakfasts and guest ranches here.

El Portal, just outside the Arch Rock Entrance, is the office for O.A.R.S., a rafting guide service that does trips on the Wild and Scenic Merced and Tuolumne Rivers.

Surrounded by national forest and Bureau of Land Management sites, both towns are convenient bases for recreation
