Where is Yosemite National Park?

Yosemite is located in eastern central California in the United States. West of the park are the major cities of San Francisco and Sacramento, California. Southeast of the park is Las Vegas, Nevada. South of the park is Los Angeles, California.

The park is nearly 1,200 square miles in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It is open all year, though some areas of the park are inaccessible by car from approximately November through May due to snow. You can drive your car around Yosemite, bike, hike, or take a shuttle.

Entrances to Yosemite National Park

5 major entrances to Yosemite National Park

There are five entrances into Yosemite National Park, and the road to each of them offers unique sights to see along the way. To give you a lay of the land, four of Yosemite’s entrances are located on the western side of the park while the fifth, the Tioga Pass Entrance, is on the more remote eastern side of the park.
